October 3 ~ Releasing the hips ~ Dawn
The hip joint is the largest joint in our body and can often
be one of the tightest. We will be stretching the muscles along
the front, side and back of the hips to find more ease of movement
October 31 ~ Yoga and Chocolate
~ Marilyn
This Halloween, free your mind and nourish your soul with an
afternoon of mindfulness through chocolate and yoga.
November 7 ~ Feldenkrais ~ Judy
The way we
move is like the air we breathe: so familiar to us that we don’t notice it -
until problems arise. An
injury that doesn’t seem to heal. Pain somewhere that
comes and goes for years. A postural imbalance that worsens over time. A
feeling of being stuck in life, less flexible and creative
than one might like.
With
group classes and/or private sessions in the Feldenkrais Method®,
you can improve the quality and
freedom of your movement.
Whether you’re young or old, limited in movement or performing
at a high level,
in pain or not.
How does it work? Not through physical effort, or learning
a “right way” to move. You play in movement with options, shifts
in perspective, and find the “aha” moment of moving freely, with
grace and ease. This process
helps you discover how you work
as a whole. Now you’re working smarter - physically, emotionally,
intellectually. And it feels good.
You will notice how easy it is to tap into these approaches
and benefits in your daily life.

Group'
We
are using the Yoga Sutra as a starting point for our meetings this
fall. Since the discussion group
began, it has evolved into an inner exploration of present awareness in relationships,
experiences,
actions and wisdom rather than a discussion on philosophical ideas. So, we have
changed the name to 'Awareness Training' to more accurately represent the group.

Monica Voss began her yoga studies in 1978 with Esther Myers, trained
to teach with Esther, and has
been teaching at the Studio since 1981.
She came to yoga with a background in drama and movement
and has
degrees in English Literature and Education.
Monica studied with Vanda Scaravelli from 1986 - 1994. Moving into
the poses using the rhythm of the breath and the support of the
ground resonates deeply for her and she continues to draw inspiration
from Vanda's and Esther's teaching, from the natural world, from
complimentary modalities, and from interaction and
dialogue with students and colleagues.
Monica has taught adults, children, families, disabled students,
pre and post natal women and students
with cancer.
Monica has been training teachers since 1986. In addition to teaching weekly
classes in Toronto,
Monica offers workshops, retreats and teacher training in
Canada, the U.S., Great Britain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica. She co-owns
and directs Esther Myers Yoga Studio with Tama Soble.
