testimonials about the program.....

2007 - 2008 Teacher Training Group

I was extremely fortunate to encounter Tara on my yoga journey. Tara shares her expertise and skills with patience, compassion and kindness. Her understanding and knowledge of the human body, the many asana and variations, as well as the multiple facets of yoga – history, philosophy, meditation and much more – are passed on to her students with accuracy, authenticity and clarity.
With Tara no easy answers are given; we are pushed to experience our own body at a cellular level by practicing Yoga, either in the classroom or during practice hours at Yogaroots and at home. In addition, Tara leads her students to examine how one’s body moves, reacts and feels, and encourages a holistic understanding of these processes through very constructive written assignments.
At Yogaroots, we also have the wonderful opportunity to observe Tara as she teaches a spectrum of professional Yoga classes. This unique experience helps develop our language, understand the sequence and techniques of Asana, monitor hands on assisting, feel the rhythm and flow of a class and also see when and how we should interact with our students. All these 45 hours of observing and taking notes are invaluable resources to come back to later on when you will teach or practice.
When I came to Tara I clearly expressed that my first goal was to grow inward and into my personal practice. French being my first language, I never thought I would be able to teach in English. But with an open heart and such professionalism, Tara encourages her students to simultaneously challenge and accept themselves. This approach allowed me to open my heart, build my confidence and gradually open the door to a passion of learning and sharing yoga with others.

What I appreciate most about the Teacher Trainingat Yogaroots with Tara Blake is the in-depth knowledge and practice that we are immersed in. This is not just a 'how to teach' yoga course, it is a comprehensive program about yoga. What I loved most about the program was learning the hands-on-assists, developing the confidence to assist in deepening anothers' experience of yoga and I found the ethics part of the teaching very interesting. What makes this training unique compared to other teacher trainings is the duration of the program and the method of yoga. It is long enough to really integrate such a respectful, gentle and sensitive way of practicing for the body. I feel very fortunate to have been able to study with Tara and if asked, would I do it all over again? I would answer 'yes' in a heartbeat. Yes, to a deeper practice of yoga and the ability to share it with others. Thank you Tara.

2005 - 2006 Teacher Training Group

"This course offers a depth and wholeness, it is well thought out and taught with respect, compassion and intelligence. Tara acknowledges each persons unique experience of yoga and in doing so has given each of us the ability to find what yoga means to us. From the ground up she has instilled in us an understanding of yoga on a cellular level, giving each of us the ability to expand and develop both personally and as yoga teachers. The course does not close any doors, but instead encourages us to open them and explore with open eyes and open heart. I am blessed to have been given a circle of friends whom I have been able to relate to and share these experiences with, who have inspired and encouraged me to grow and given me a sense of support and belonging. The memories of wisdom, love and laughter are ones that I will never forget and am forever thankful for. Namaste."

“Tara Blake teaches with integrity and compassion.  She inspires her students to reach deep within and find their own answers.  Tara shares her vast knowledge, offers support, encouragement and insight to guide students on their personal journeys of learning and discovery.  The teacher training course has resulted in my physical, intellectual and emotional growth.  I have gained the strength and confidence to step outside my comfort zone and explore new challenges and experiences. I have been amazed at how much I have learned – both about yoga and about myself.  Thank you Tara!”
~ Lee-Ann Baxter

"My testimonial to date would be how very grateful I am to be in the company of such dedicated, truly sincere women , who through their learning can bring awareness to wholeness. The main things I have learned , are to honor my body , do no harm! Pay attention to Balance, and Boundaries. To appreciate the unity of Mind Body and Spirit, and enable others to do the same.
The Breath is so important. The Body and all it's components, The Spirit and its endless possibilities, and the Mind , how it interprets and puts into action the new learned skills and wonder. Tara , you are an incredible woman! I have been blessed to be in your class and exposed to such a caring and learned teacher as you. May Peace always follow you. Namaste"
~ Ann Hall

"The teacher training program with Tara Blake at Yogaroots studio has been extraordinary journey of self empowerment, providing a vehicle for growth and change for me that was grounded in compassion and in service. Tara's way, always thoughtful, always well prepared, engendered trust and hard work. Her way of placing the learning in each person, honouring and ultimately illuminating their precious differences, is designed to bring out the strength in each. I would recommend this program to anyone wishing to deepen their practice of yoga."
~ Suzanne Northcott

"Over the past year and a bit, I have been participating in Tara's Yoga Teacher Training classes @ Yogaroots.  It has been a strong personal commitment and a life-altering experience for me; I feel I have learned so much and grown physically, emotionally & spiritually.  It has helped me to build confidence and to believe in myself.
The connection amongst the students in the class is astonishing.  I have met some extraordinary people, and built some strong and meaningful relationships.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone who's interested in expanding his or her knowledge and experience along the yoga path."
~ Pam Weidenhammer

"When I first saw the teacher training being offered I thought, “oh, that’s nice” but I am not interested in teaching yoga and even if I were, I can’t do all the poses with my physical problems and limitations.  So, the teacher training program was not something I associated with as something for me.  But I could not get it out of my mind!  After much thought, I realized that my motivation could be strictly self-serving; namely, not to teach yoga but simply to deepen my own yoga experience.  I have learned the “why’s” not just the “how’s” of yoga.  The program has given me opportunities to explore yoga in more detail on my own as well as within a caring, sharing and incredibly supportive camaraderie of a group of truly extraordinary individuals not to mention the loving guidance and mentoring of the instructor, Tara.  I have gained confidence in myself which has impacted areas of my life beyond yoga.  I have let myself become open to many more possibilities in my life again beyond yoga but does include the possibility of sharing my yoga with others which really is what teaching is all about."
 ~ Marilyn O’Malley

Along this guided journey, I have experienced many deeply inspiring moments. One of the gifts that I have been given and that I have experienced is the gift of self exploration, which has allowed me to flow with creativity and passion both on and off of my mat. I have been able to find the natural organic rhythm of life and enjoy every experience and everyone within it. During this program I have studied along side truly gifted and loving people, who are part of the true beauty of yoga. I am also honored to have been able to learn from such a passionate and loving teacher for many years and I am always inspired by her teachings. Embrace the spirit of yoga and find your peace within as you learn to be balanced, be present and be natural …Namaste.
~ Shaunti

As a BCRPA certified fitness and yoga instructor I found the Yogaroots Teacher Training very informative and Tara Blake extremely knowledgeable and experienced. Through her instruction I learned the importance of grounding, alignment, breath, centering and hands on assistance. The philosophical parts of the course were most informative and helped to open my mind to other ways of approaching everyday life. All that I have learned through Tara’s course I can and am using professionally and personally. Thank you Tara.
